Climate change adaptation in Central America: A review of the national policy efforts

Abstract The latest comparative studies of climate policies reinforce the fundamental importance employing adaptation planning alongside national development strategies. While these are necessary to document and share knowledge practices experiences undertaken at level, documents still scarce on regions interest such as Central America. This article scrutinizes state through an exhaustive investigation policy documents, consisting National Adaptation Strategies, Climate Legislation, Action Plans, which common in all six American countries. findings reveal a region with intricate yet progressive trend toward policies, each country showing different speeds qualities adoption. An increasing learning curve has allowed for emergence two generations several improved features, including horizontal vertical coordination, monitoring systems, inclusion heterogeneous instruments implement systems. Yet, institutional challenges outside realm could hinder progress attained, due factors political economic crisis fragility. Further research into broader governance landscape is needed, focusing if how should address instability fragility vulnerability stressors.
